Santorini is stunning. The views of the caldera and cliffs are incredibly unique. We stayed at Finikia Memories hotel which was just a short walk from Oia, one of the main destinations on the island. Athens is Alive!

I don't understand the negativity surrounding visiting Athens. I think it stems from comparing Athens to the Greek Islands of Mykonos and Santorini, which are spectacular in their own ways as well, but are an entirely different type of vacation.
